Cleaning the oil storage tank is a dangerous operation in the tank, because the oil vapor is not only flammable, explosive, but also toxic. Therefore, when washing the tank, the following safety regulations must be strictly observed.

1. Open the manhole, check the quality of the oil at the bottom of the tank, and determine the oil removal and treatment plan. 

2. Personnel entering the tank must wear overalls, work shoes, work gloves, and gas masks. It is also necessary to bring the signal rope and the safety belt. The person outside the tank should be supervised. The time of entering the tank should not be too long. Generally, it is suitable for 15-20 minutes. In addition, medical staff should be on duty at the scene. 

3. Cleaning the residual oil. Use broom or wooden tools. Iron and steel tools are strictly prohibited. 

4. Effective ventilation is required. 

5. Steam method - All the hole covers in the tank should be closed at the beginning. When the temperature reaches 60-70 °C, the lid is opened and the steaming is continued to completely dissolve the residual oil in the tank.
